SABIL Highlights the Importance of Diversifying Wheat Sources at the IAOM Conference

2, December, 2025

SABIL’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Mauro Barbieri, emphasized that the diversification of global wheat origins provides a competitive advantage in pricing and reduces the risks of relying on a single source. He noted that a well-studied approach to risk management is a critical factor in ensuring supply continuity, particularly amid global shifts such as sudden export taxes or restrictions. He stressed that adopting precautionary methodologies strengthens the resilience of the supply chain against potential disruptions.

This came during the opening of the IAOM Conference & Expo, hosted in Jeddah from 1–4 December 2025 and organized by the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM). Barbieri participated in a panel session titled “Opportunities and Risks in Grain Trade,” alongside leading experts from around the world. During the session, he highlighted major developments in global markets and the role of diversified sourcing in enhancing the Kingdom’s supply chain flexibility.

SABIL is participating in the event as a Bronze Sponsor, aiming to strengthen engagement with partners across the grain and milling sector and to stay informed of the latest global practices and industry trends. Now in its 35th edition, the conference is considered one of the most prominent international gatherings for the milling and grain industry. This year marks its first time being held in Saudi Arabia, featuring participation from 45 countries, more than 100 exhibition booths, and 30 speakers representing leading experts in the field.
